Italia Jackets

Is it possible to clean matted or soiled suede leather jackets? It is from the early 40's?

  1. Brush it first with a suede brush, these are readily available and only a couple of dollars. Then make a solution of white vinegar and water. 50/50. Sponge it over the jacket, without soaking, taking particular care of the soiled sections. Dry it off on a coat hanger inside. That will also get rid of any mildew that may be on your jacket.
  2. Find a good leather shop that works on real leather and ask. Most will tell you what u need to get or how to clean it. Since the suede is older it might fall apart when your cleaning it. (storage of the item should have been better)
  3. It's best to have it professionally cleaned at dry cleaners. It will probably be expensive but worth it.
