Is this a good idea for a short story?

I'm planning to write a dark comedic story about a houseful of naive old women who see a man in a raincoat outside and believe the Grim Reaper has come for them. What do you think?

  32. It has possibilities. What if it really IS the grim reaper? What if he really isn't all that grim, but has a wonderful sense of humor and is charming? What if he makes their last few moments on earth one of beauty and grace? Hmmmm.......You had better write it quick or I might cop it for myself.
  33. Yes, but try twisting the plot a little.. like the women think the guy is the grim reaper.. but actually the grim reaper could turn out to be one of the naive women.

  41. what is there to think? you say it is a story to be written by you and to be read by you. it is to say ignorance and shows your innocense.
  42. Very good idea but it has a familiar ring to it. I believe I saw a movie based on this premise. Be careful & ensure that you do not plagerise another author.
  43. I'd read it. Make a good twist at the end, like; They convince themselves he isn't but he ends up actually being a reaper or the text makes him seem like one and they kill him and he ends up being one of their sons (just a regular person.) Good luck with it.
  44. I think by the time someone has reached old age they may have encountered a raincoat. As a matter of fact they probably own a raincoat. You may want to go with older people that have diminished eyesight and think they see the grim reaper.
  45. I suggest you complicate the plot with failing memories...which can add both comedy and melodrama. Also add a trip down memory lane, to tell each other the stories attatched to their photos and things, so their story will "continue in the others", if he is there for her! these two additives could make a complete novel, or a nice TV movie.
