Italia Jackets

How do you wash a suede jacket?

I have a light spring suede jacket that needs to be cleaned, but I don't want to take it to the dry cleaners. Is it possible to machine wash it without it being ruined?

  1. Try some soft cleaning solution and use a soft texture towel and hand clean it.
  2. You can't wash it because it will get stained by water unless it has a 3M coating. You will probably have to take it to a cleaners that specializes in leather and suede otherwise it will get ruined.
  3. Read the tag that has cleaning instruction
  4. you can't wash it, you will ruin it. Only a professional who does suede can help and not all dry cleaners do suede. There are some products on the market to clean suede and they don't work well. You are out of luck, suede is tough and when it is dirty you are better off getting a new one.
  5. it wont mess up if u hand wash it and dry it outside ......well u jes gotta no wetcha doin
  6. I have never had my suede jacket drycleaned or washed but I don't wear it a lot. I have carefully sponged little marks, like on the cuff of the sleeve and I often hang it on a hanger in the sun to air out. I don't think it need cleaning any more than that, unless you have spilt something on it.
  7. I take my suede jacket to the Dry Cleaners. It looks a treat when I get it back. I wear mine nearly all the time. Suede can be very tricky to clean. But definitely DON't put in the washing machine.
  8. i say safe is better then sorry dry clean
  9. Don't put it in the washing machine. It'll destroy the jacket. If you want to avoid the dry cleaners try sponging it or using a soft brush to remove dirt. I think there are also leather/suede cleaning kits that you can buy, but as a rule suede and water are a no-no.
