how to clean secondhand leather suede jackets before use?
hey, i just bought a suede jacket, secondhand vintage from ebay. it was from 1970s, i think, coz the fringed type model, cowboy style? (is it true yea? any vintage ppl can help me clarify this?) it was given from someone whos given etc2 the seller said, so i felt a bit yucky wearing it before washing it first, both the inside and the outside. (of course u want it clean both sides, esp the sides touching ur skin!) the tag says "genuine leather and suede. professional dry clean with leather specialist only" anyone has any ideas how to clean it without bringing it to the specialist dry cleaner? it doesnt have any spots whatever, but i just want it to be cleaned so that its ready-to-wear like a new jacket. thanks in advance!! :)

- YOU can't clean it...you have to have it dry cleaned BY a leather specialist, like the tag says...the tags are put in for a reason... if you try to do it yourself you are going to ruin the leather. Leather gets spots that CANNOT be removed, if you use water, oil or something not made for leather. so do it right and take it to a GOOD cleaner.
- unless it looks bad i wouldn't bother because you have to have it done proffesionally. it is quite expensive to get it done but that is the only way
- you can't clean it without ruining it. You must take it to a suede leather expert. Some regular dry cleaners will send it out for you and will need up to 2 weeks to get it back. Search the yellow pages for the cleaner closest to you.
