How do I go about cleaning and conditioning suede leather at home?

My husband got a few black spots (shoe polish) in this suede jacket. The jacket also seems to need some conditioning but he is not willing to pay for the dry cleaner to take care of that. Any suggestions regarding how to do that at home? Thank you.
